Barbados’ nationality law is gender discriminatory based on marital status, affecting unmarried fathers’ ability to confer nationality on their children. An NGO report for the 2018 UPR revealed that under the Constitution of Barbados, an unmarried Barbadian father is denied the right to confer his nationality on his children, a right reserved for unmarried mothers.
