In Cyprus, temporal bordering along ethnic lines happens when applicants for Cypriot nationality are not denied by the Ministry of Interior but simply left “pending,” some for 14 years. Children with Turkish ancestry may or may not receive birth certificates. However, the birth certificate is a dead-end document with no pathway to citizenship.
